- Team 04:50 Friday Road Ride
Friday, July 13, 2012 4:50 a.m.
Team 04:50 is a group of non-competitive riders (well, some are more competitive in their own minds than others) who are crazy enough to ride at 4:50 a.m. Monday through Friday year round. We meet at the northwest corner of Buffalo and Cheyenne. Unless the weather is really bad, there is always someone there. Group numbers range from 3 to 15 depending on the time of year and the weather. We usually ride an hour and a half to two hours - people turn off or back whenever they need to to get to work. We ride through Summerlin or through Centenial Hills. It is hard to say the average speed but it probably ranges in the 15-16 mph. BUT, no one gets dropped permanently. I say permanently as we have different established routes and the stronger riders often go ahead and circle back to pick up the not so strong riders at some point. All levels are welcome.

- Las Vegas Bike or Hike Meetup: Beginner Mountain Bike Ride
Friday, July 13, 2012 7:00 a.m.
We will meet at Blue Diamond (look for my white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.) I will provide basic tips and instructions and then we will start our ride.
This ride will be for beginning mountain bike riders, although intermediate riders can tag along if they wish. It is one of the easiest and least technical rides in the area and about 2-5 miles round trip depending on your skill and fitness level. The scenery is astounding and you will get a good workout. We will go at a moderate pace and will wait for those in the back. We will do the Mustang loop. The Mustang loop should take only 1 1/2 hours. Please stay on the trails, yield to uphill riders, stay in our group, and move over to let others pass. Requirements: Bring extra tube, 1 liter (33 oz.) water, helmet, positive attitude, and don't be late and be ready to leave upon arrival (we will leave promptly.) Recommended: Small basic first aid kit, ID, health insurance cards, sunscreen, cell phone, phone #s of friends and relatives in case of emergency, let relatives know where you are going and when you will be back and give them your cell #, wear bike or gym shorts rather than pants or sweats, bring windbreaker or long sleeve T-shirt in you back or fanny pack and gloves as extra if needed in cold weather, leave valuables at home (break-ins possible while you are riding.)
